Linee GuidaIl
musicali. LA REDAZIONE DI ARLEQUINS The LINEE GUIDA project (Guidelines) was born in September 2006. Its actual aim is to compile a collection of guidelines and listening paths for Prog neophytes and for all those who want to deepen their own knowledge. The Guidelines haven't been conceived as the project of just one individual but, since the beginning, they have been shaped as a choral plan involving all the people who frequent the Arlequins forum, however wide or little their knowledge may be and whatever musical inclinations they may have. The drawing up method is gradual, facing step by step every single nation's scene. For each one of them, a list has been written up as the final result of the discussion. This list highlights the bands and the albums considered fundamental, as well as, let's say, strongly suggested. In addition, a score offering a further scale of clearly identifiable grading, has been assigned to every item inside each category. For the "fundamental" it goes from 3 to 6, for the "suggested" from 1 to 3. Moreover we also listed all the albums and artists that have been named during the discussion, where at least one of the participants thought them deserving to enter the final prospect, but didn't receive enough votes. Completing all that, for every cited artist, all judgments and comments expressed by the participants have been included (only in Italian… sorry… but I think everybody will be able to understand what "jazz/rock" or "folk" mean…), so that any Guidelines user can have a further criteria of judgement of the genre played by the artists, and also the various opinions that they provoked. The final prospects resulting from the discussions are therefore published here. They are divided, just like the discussions that originated them, into single nations. Every prospect is in Microsoft Excel format and is freely downloadable. As the discussions will go ahead and new prospects will be completed (that is new nations), they will be released and available in this area. Without pretending to present absolute truths, nor to produce an encyclopaedia featuring everything (on the contrary, the goal is to select what is really deserving attention among the thousands of productions in all the streams of Progressive music), we believe we have created an initiative that can be helpful and stimulating for all those who want to use it. Happy consultations! ARLEQUINS STAFF |
